  • What Predneau® is and what it is used for

Predneau® 10 mg/mL Oral Solution contains the active ingredient prednisolone. Prednisolone belongs to a group of medicines called steroids (the full name is corticosteroids).

Corticosteroids occur naturally in the body and help maintain health and well-being. Supplementing your body with additional corticosteroids (such as prednisolone) is an effective way to treat various conditions involving inflammation in the body.

Predneau® Oral Solution reduces this inflammation, which could otherwise worsen your condition. You must take this medication regularly to get the maximum benefit from it.

Predneau® Oral Solution can be used:

    • for the treatment of breathing difficulties associated with asthma,
    • for the treatment of severe allergic reactions,
    • for the treatment of diseases that cause inflammation in the skin, small and medium-sized arteries, muscles, and joints (including rheumatoid arthritis),
    • for the treatment of problems with your immune system, where the immune system attacks your body’s own cells,
    • for the treatment of certain kidney problems,
    • to treat certain diseases that lead to inflammation of the intestine, e.g., ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease,
    • to treat inflammation of the heart,
    • to treat problems with your blood, including hemolytic anemia (a disorder that breaks down red blood cells) and leukemia,
    • to prevent rejection after an organ transplant.
  • How to use Predneau® oral solution

Always take Predneau® oral solution exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist. These instructions will be included on the package insert provided by your pharmacist.

Your doctor will determine the most appropriate dose for your treatment or that of your child.

A 5-ml graduated syringe and a syringe-to-bottle adapter are provided with the medication. Use the adapter with the syringe to draw the amount of Predneau® oral solution prescribed for you or your child by your doctor from the bottle.

  • Place the bottle adapter firmly onto the neck of the bottle.
  • Press the tip of the syringe into the hole at the top of the adapter and make sure it is locked in place.
  • Hold the syringe in place and then turn the bottle upside down.
  • While still holding the syringe in place, pull the plunger down to the correct mark on the syringe.
  • Turn the bottle back to its upright position.
  • Remove the syringe from the adapter by holding it above the bottle and gently twisting the syringe.

After use, replace the bottle cap and wash the dosing syringe with warm water. Let it dry.
