<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space height=”45px”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]TORVASTIN<\/span> <\/span>belongs to the class of medications known as statins, prescribed to lower the increased levels of blood lipids, such as cholesterol and triglycerides.<\/p>\n

TORVASTIN\u2019s <\/span>active ingredient is atorvastatin, a competitive inhibitor of hydroxymethylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase, the rate-determining enzyme in the biosynthesis of cholesterol. Cholesterol is a naturally occurring molecule, essential for the body growth, a major structural component of the cell membranes. Increased blood levels of cholesterol though have been shown to relate to increased risk of cardiovascular diseases.<\/p>\n

TORVASTIN<\/span>\u00a0is used to decrease high blood lipid levels, when a diet low in fat and a modified lifestyle have failed.<\/p>\n

If there is an increased risk for cardiovascular disease, TORVASTIN <\/span>can be used even at physiological cholesterol blood levels, complementary to a diet low in fat.<\/p>\n

Atorvastatin was discovered in 1985 in the laboratories of<\/span> Warner-Lambert<\/span><\/a>‘s\u00a0Parke-Davis<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0in Ann Arbor, Michigan<\/a><\/span> by the group of<\/span> Bruce Roth<\/span><\/a>.
