What Viloxidon® oral solution is and what it is used for

It is a medicine prescribed to relieve patients from moderate to severe pain. It contains the active ingredient oxycodone, which belongs to a class of medicines called strong analgesics or “opioids”.

How to use Viloxidon® oral solution

The usual starting dose is 5 mg (5ml for Viloxidon oral solution 1mg/ml and 0.5ml for Viloxidon® oral solution 10mg/ml)  every 4 to 6 hours. However, your doctor will prescribe the dose required to treat your pain. If you continue to have pain while taking this medicine, discuss it with your doctor.

Children and adolescents under 18 years of age must not take this medicine.

Tell your doctor if you suffer from kidney or liver problems, as they may prescribe a lower dose depending on your condition.

Do not exceed the dose recommended by your doctor. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Take the medicine by mouth only. This medicine must never be given by injection, as it can lead to serious adverse effects that may cause death.

Call your doctor or the hospital immediately. The symptoms of overdose are drowsiness, nausea or dizziness. You may also experience serious breathing problems that can cause anaesthesia or even death and may require urgent transfer to hospital. When you seek medical help, make sure you have this leaflet and any amount of medicine left in the bottle with you, to show to the doctor

If you forget to take a dose of Viloxidon® oral solution

If you forget to take a dose of the medicine, you should take the next dose as soon as you remember and then continue as before. Do not take two doses within 4 hours. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you forgot.

If treatment with Viloxidon® oral solution is stopped

You must not stop using this medicine suddenly unless your doctor tells you to. If you want to stop taking the medicine, discuss it with your doctor first. They will advise you how you can stop treatment. The dose is usually reduced gradually so that you do not experience unpleasant side effects.

Abrupt discontinuation of treatment may cause withdrawal symptoms such as restlessness, tachycardia, anxiety, sweating or tremor.
