What Drosone® tablets are and what they are used for
Drosone® tablets contain a medicine called hydrocortisone. This belongs to a group of medicines called “steroids”. Their full name is corticosteroids. These corticosteroids occur naturally in the body and help maintain health and well-being.
Supplementing your body with additional corticosteroids (such as Drosone® tablets) is an effective way of treating various illnesses that involve inflammation in your body. Drosone® tablets reduce this inflammation, which could otherwise make your condition worse. You should take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor, in order to get the maximum benefit from it.
Hydrocortisone is a steroid medicine prescribed for the treatment of congenital adrenal hyperplasia in children, emergency treatment of asthma, treatment of reactions to medicines, serum sickness and severe allergic reactions in adults and children.

The recommended dose for adults is six to eight tablets (60-80mg) every 4 to 6 hours for 24 hours, followed by gradual dose reduction over a few days.

Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose you forgot.
If you stop taking Drosone® tablets
It is dangerous to reduce the dose of Drosone® tablets too quickly. Stopping Drosone® tablets may result in your body being left without enough steroid hormones. This may cause withdrawal symptoms such as:
- muscle or joint pain, fever, general malaise.
Your doctor or pharmacist will advise you on how to reduce the number of tablets you take if you need to do this.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
